Furnaces - Portland OR

Your Portland, OR specialists in residential furnace filters, parts, service and installation!

A furnace is the heart of a central heating and cooling system. This is the part of the system that houses the indoor blower fan and is connected to the homes ductwork. There are many types of furnaces, Gas, Oil, & Electric. The most common type in older Portland homes are Gas and Oil furnace's. The majority of electric furnaces in the Portland area are in connection with a Heat Pump to save utility costs (We highly recommend this). A Heat Pump can also be added to an existing Gas Furnace as well to create a Duel Fuel Heating system. This is one of the most Energy Efficient ways to heat and cool your home.

The second most common and very comfortable is the natural gas furnace. Propane is an alternate fuel option for those outside of the natural gas service area. Natural gas furnaces are extremely safe! Natural gas furnaces are rated in efficiency with an A.F.U.E. (Annual Fuel Utilization Economy). A high efficiency furnace would have an A.F.U.E. rating of over 90%. This means that on a 95% Gas Furnace, 95% of the heat generated is transferred into your ductwork and hopefully into your home if your ductwork is sealed correctly. The remaining 5% is the amount of heat that goes out of your chimney. Many older furnaces have an A.F.U.E rating of 70-80, which means there is a tremendous energy savings available.

The newer natural gas furnaces are so efficient that the chimney is PVC pipe.

Furnaces are positioned in many areas of existing homes. They can be in attics, closets, basements, crawl spaces, and most are found in the homes garage. In a new “retrofit” installation where there is no existing ductwork, there are many options to consider. Most manufacturers say that the most important day in the life of a heating/cooling system is the day it is installed. Heating and cooling loads, ductwork size, air-flow, space restrictions, code requirements, and quality of workmanship are just a few of the important considerations. One of our friendly, knowledgeable Comfort Advisors can get you the information you need to make a wise decision in replacing, upgrading, or adding a new forced air furnace to your home.

As stated in every one of our proposals, servicing and annual maintenance of your existing furnace is something both we and all manufacturers recommend. You wouldn’t buy a new car and never change the oil in it for the life of the car would you? The engine may blow up! Forced Air Furnaces won’t blow up, but it will dramatically decrease the life of the furnace without regularly maintenance. We have many affordable maintenance plans to help and serve you with.

The best and most efficient way to filter and maintain a high quality of indoor air is through your central furnace. We specialize in duct cleaning & sealing. Imagine your home's Furnace as your humanly heart, and the ductwork like your veins and arteries, you wouldn't live life with a blood clot, so why would you live in a home with leaky and in-efficient ductwork? If you have signs of leaky ductwork (i.e. high utility bills, filters get dirty quickly, stuffy rooms, poor air circulation, damaged ductwork) you may be wasting money every time you run your furnace.
